Born in Jerusalem, Israel, Mia began her music studies at an early age with Irit Evan-Tov at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. At 14, she was awarded the Keren Sharett American-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship Prize.

Mia continued her studies in the United States, studying at the Peabody Conservatory and awarded merit scholarships throughout her Bachelor's and Master of Music Degrees, graduating with high honors. She was a student of Ray Chester during her bachelor’s degree and was accepted to complete her Master’s Degree with world renowned guitarist Manuel Barrueco as well as selected to be his assistant.

After being awarded the Master's of Music, Mia pursued her Graduate Performance Degree under the tutelage of Mr. Barrueco and was awarded the degree in May 2008.

She was a finalist and prize winner in national and international guitar competitions, including the Appalachian GuitarFest Competition in April 2006 and the National Guitar Workshop Competition in July 2006, 2007 and 2008.
In May 2007 she won the prize for 'the Best Interpretation of a Piece by Sor' , having been selected for the final round of the 35th Fernando Sor International Guitar Competition in Rome, Italy.

She performed in Masterclasses for prominent artists such as: Sergio Assad, Denis Azabagic, Manuel Barrueco, Ray Chester, Simon Dinnegan, Julian Gray, Bruce Holzman, David Leisner, José Lezcano, Martha Masters, Matteo Mela, Lorenzo Michaeli, Charles Ramirez, Pepe Romero, David Russell and Fabio Zanon.
